How I compare with Wix, agencies and Gargle
I build websites for local businesses, alone, from Canyon Lake, Texas. Below is what the other options cost and how they work.
Every number about another company links to where I found it and shows the date I checked it, 2 Oct 2026. Prices and terms change, so open the source before you decide.
My price and terms
- Price
- $997 to $4,997 to set up, then $79 to $249 a month, depending on the plan.
- Launch
- Live in 3 to 14 days, depending on the plan.
- Speed
- If the new site scores under 90 on Google PageSpeed for mobile, I rebuild it free.
- Contract
- Month to month, with 30 days' notice to cancel.
- Code
- You own the code and can host it anywhere.
- Who builds it
- I do, myself. I work alone from Canyon Lake, Texas.
Wix and similar website builders
Wix is a good choice if you want to build and edit the site yourself. Its paid plans cost less each month than mine.
- Cost
- A free plan, then $17.77, $29.77 or $39.77 a month on the Light, Core and Business plans. Wix lists them as yearly plans paid in full.Source: Wix plans page (opens in a new tab), checked 2 Oct 2026
- Who builds it
- You do, in a drag and drop editor.Source: Wix plans page (opens in a new tab), checked 2 Oct 2026
- Moving it later
- Wix says a Wix site has to run on Wix's servers, so it cannot be moved to another host. A domain you own can be connected or moved.Source: Wix Help Center (opens in a new tab), checked 2 Oct 2026
I cost more each month. For that I build the site for you, and it can run on any host.
Web design agencies
An agency can do work I don't, such as running ads and social media. I build websites and nothing else.
- Setup
- Most professionally built small business websites start around $4,000 to $8,000.Source: Flamingo Agency cost guide, updated 3 Jan 2026 (opens in a new tab), checked 2 Oct 2026
- Upkeep
- Many businesses budget $50 to $200 a month for maintenance, plus $20 to $100 a month for hosting.Source: Flamingo Agency cost guide, updated 3 Jan 2026 (opens in a new tab), checked 2 Oct 2026
- Time to build
- A professionally built small business website takes 4 to 8 weeks.Source: Elementor timeline guide, 29 Jun 2026 (opens in a new tab), checked 2 Oct 2026
That gap is where I work: a lower price and a shorter wait, for a website only.
Gargle
Gargle is a dental marketing company. Its plans bundle a website with SEO, social media posts, review requests and ads. I only build websites.
- Website and SEO
- $595 a month on the Nurture plan and $1,145 on High-Grow. A $59 a month membership is listed on the same page.Source: Gargle pricing page (opens in a new tab), checked 2 Oct 2026
- Contract length
- The terms set a minimum of 12 months, renewing each year unless ended in writing 30 days before the end.Source: Gargle terms and conditions (opens in a new tab), checked 2 Oct 2026
- Leaving early
- In the first six months you can end the agreement by paying 75% of the remaining balance. In the last six months it is 50%.Source: Gargle terms and conditions (opens in a new tab), checked 2 Oct 2026
- Website code
- The terms say the copyright in the work, including website code and layout, is held jointly by you and Gargle after final payment.Source: Gargle terms and conditions (opens in a new tab), checked 2 Oct 2026
If you want marketing handled for you, Gargle does more than I do. If you only need the website, compare its term and monthly cost with my terms at the top of this page.
What the difference looks like
The left side is a generic template page I mocked up. The right side is one of my demos, a made-up business.

Drag the handle, tap a label, or use the left and right arrow keys. The template side is a mock-up I made, not a screenshot of a real company.
